Getting back to the story dear imaginary readers...we arrived at our hotel in Bologna early as our flights had been moved up a number of hours. As a result our rooms were not ready when we arrived at the Grand Majestic Bologna. The decision was made to make a pit stop, then to head out for a little walk to kill the time. The vet and I made our way down the beautiful stairs which had a delicate curly q Art Deco type of wrought iron bannister to the washrooms. As expected they were marble and spacious, each stall was its own little room with a tall door which locked with a Skelton key. My only excuse for what happened next is that I was very tired. I did my business and unlocked the door, I mean I tried to unlock the door. Several times. I did start to panic a bit, was the Vet still in the outer room? How was I going to get out of there!?!?! Thank goodness I heard my friend and called out for help., with the patience of a vet working with a tired cranky pet - she talked me through the motions (took a couple of more tries!) and finally I was free!! WOOT!!!! Thanks again for the save Vet! Soon we hit the open roads of Bologna, it was a chilly, wet day. We were thankful to be under the Porticos for a while while we we head one of the main squares. This picture is the ceiling near the surgeons museum if I remember correctly. We wandered until we found this church, Its is an old Gothic style church named the Basillica Di San Petronio located in Piazza Maggiore, not far from our hotel. Construction began in 1390, its facade has never been totally completed. The Knight and TLOMIL found seats to have a chat while the Vet and I wandered the side chapels trying to figure what everything was. You will be happy to know that shockingly the church is still standing even though we entered! We knew we would be taking a tour the next day, so didn’t stay to long. We strolled the side streets surrounding the Piazza finding other small churches, stopping for coffee (we needed lots to stay awake at this point!) finally deciding to head back to the hotel, fingers crossed that our rooms would be ready. YIPEE!! The rooms were ready, TLOMIL and I settled into this room Perhaps just a “touch” more ornate that our bedroom at home hahah! A quick nap was in order then off for dinner and a little bit of wine! Next up was a llloonnnggggg sleep to prepare us for the next days tour. Cheers dear imaginary reader, until next time Ciao!

Hi Jill: Love the pictures of Italy. The churches are sensational. Italy - what is there that is not to love? Have not been to Bologna - really have not seen much of Italy. All the best- Ron
